Wireless Transfer App:Sync backup photo and video

The developer says:
"Wireless Transfer App is an easy to use photo and video transfer tool. It helps you easily and quickly transfer photos and videos between iPhone and iPad, as well as transfer photos and videos from computer to iPad/iPhone/iPod and vice verse (sic.)".

Now for the ACIDS test:

Aesthetics
The App has an uncluttered interface, restricted to a few buttons on the home page:

Info
This gives you information on how to use the App.

Paint
A toggle switch to change the background colour of the App.

Settings
Here you can choose whether or not to protect the App with a password, sound an alert, and clear the temporary cache, thereby freeing up memory.

Send and Receive
... which do exactly what you suspect them to do.

Although the App can be used between various iOS devices, it can also be used between a computer (PC or Mac) and any iOS device. We'll take the example of two iOS devices.

The App needs to be available on both devices.

It really is very easy to use as you choose Send on one device, then choose the iPod/iPhone/iPad button to select the photos or videos you wish to transfer.

On the receiving device, tap Receive (you'd guessed that already) and pick the name of the sending device.

There is also an Explore Device mode where it is the receiving device that makes the running.

Cost
The App Costs $3.

Indispensability
Remember that all devices sending, or receiving, need to have the App or software downloaded.

Dependability
The App needs access to wi-fi in order to be able to work, although you can also use a Personal Hotspot in order to achieve this.

Security
The App needs access to your photos.

In the case of the 'other' device using the Explore tool, you are safeguarded by needing to grant access on the device containing the photos.

ACIDS Test Rating:

Potentially one-step to transfer photos/videos

Vantage Calendar - App Review

Are you still using the plain vanilla iOS calendar App?

This alternative allows you more customisation, without having to renter any data.

Now for the ACIDS test:

Aesthetics
You can choose from a number of display templates. Pick from: black, bistro, lava rock, black gold, pink, light, or stealth. Once you've done that, simply close the picker to regain that part of screen real-estate.

Pick a date, add a title, and then you can choose 'keyboard time input' which allows you to use words such as 'noon this Friday', rather than input a time.

Choose from 44 colours for the task, add a sticker, change font, add alerts (15/30/60 minute and 1 day are standard but, any other also possible).

Then you can further elect for repetitions, people, location, add notes, and even change calendar.

Cost
The App Costs $5.

Indispensability
A calendar is indispensable; this one is an 'upgrade' to the one bundled with your iOS device.

Dependability
The App works as described.

Security
The App needs access to your calendar, as a must. Optionally, you can allow notifications, as well as access to calendars other than iCloud, and location access.

ACIDS Test Rating:

Upgrade your calendar.

Antonym Match - App Review

Here's an App that actually accomplishes two goals at once. It tests your knowledge of Antonyms (a word with the opposite meaning to another) and your memory skills.

Now for the ACIDS test:

Aesthetics
The home screen comprises 4 buttons:

Players
Tap the icon to switch between 1/2/3/4 players

Tiles
Tap the icon to switch between 12/16/20/24 tiles

Difficulty
Tap the icon to switch between easy/medium/hard

Start
... no explanation needed...

and now you have 'cards' where you uncover a pair at a time. Every time you match a pair on Antonyms, they are removed.

Cost
The App Costs a nominal $1.

Indispensability
This is not a 'must have' App but, it is very educational.

Dependability
The App works exactly as expected.

Security
The App is self-contained, so no concerns on this front.

ACIDS Test Rating:

Learn antonyms, improve memory.

Schulte Table - improve fast reading and attention - App Review

An App to improve your peripheral vision and increase your reading speed... read on.

Now for the ACIDS test:

Aesthetics
You are given the option of 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6 grids (5x5 being the default).

Now press the Start button; you can't miss it, it's bang in the middle of the screen.

You will be given your time to accomplish the task, position (or rank if you prefer compared to your results), best time, and number of attempts today.

The actual tasks get more difficult (such as simply tapping on numbers in increasing order, then two sets of numbers in different colours).

Helpfully, the top of the screen reminds you on the next action to be completed (such as 14 Red).

Cost
The App Costs a nominal $1.

Indispensability
It's a way to get quicker at recognising text.

Dependability
The only way to check if it works for you is to try it out... and then persevere; using it once won't do you any good.

Security
The App is self-contained, so no concerns on this front.

ACIDS Test Rating:

Up your reading speed.

Salsa Rhythm - the Latin Dance Practice Tool - App Review

Two left feet? Join the club!

This App enables you to practice Salsa.

Now for the ACIDS test:

Aesthetics
The most important feature is that you can set the tempo (anything between dirge and frantic!); this is set through a slider control at the top of the screen.

You can also set the key, and choose from various instruments such as Clave (rhythmic pattern), Piano, Congas, Timbales, Bongos, Bass, Maracas, Guiro, Cowbell and an Instructor, and even these are customisable.

The App also includes links to various music to download.

You can choose from English, German, or Spanish for vocal cues.

Cost
The App Costs $3.

Indispensability
Well, this all depends on how interested you are in Salsa, and how many left feet you have.

Dependability
Just concentrate on your feet and let the App take care of the rest.

Security
The App is self-contained, so no concerns on this front... it's the other people on the dance floor who'll need to watch out.

ACIDS Test Rating:

Improve your Salsa
